Petronas Twin Towers

Earlier in 2011 I was for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Two reasons for that trip: reasonable cheap ticket and I wanted to see the Petronas Twin Towers :-) Unfortunately I had only 2 days there on a Sunday and Monday. As always I did not prepare myself enough so I went to the ticket booth on Sunday at approx 10 a.m. just to realize, that all tickets for that day were sold out. They only sell about 1200 tickets per day for 50 RM (equals ~13€ or ~$16). And the Towers are closed on Mondays. So no Towers for me on that trip…..I needed to come back!

So again I bought a ticket to KUL, this time arriving Saturday evening and leaving Monday evening. Also I prepared better and knew that I’d to be at the ticket booth no later than 7 a.m. – it opens at 8:30 but I’d to expect long queues.

Well, I arrived at the tiekct booth at 10 minutes to 7 in the morning just to find out that there’s already a long queue.

Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to buy tickets online or anywhere else. So I’d to wait….and enough time to watch the others. I quickly learned that there must be some kind of ticket mafia, because people wanted to buy 20-30 tickets. At approx 8 a.m. a lady from the ticket office went along the queue and asked everyone how many tickets they want. She tracked the total and handed everyone a number card. I was number 62. People at the end of the queue were sent home because they’d no real chance to get a ticket.

A couple of minutes after 9 I finally got my ticket!

The 2 p.m. time slot was perfect as I was able to get back to the Doubletree for brakfast.

Here just a few photos from the Skybridge visitor tour:

There’s a bridge on floor 41 and 42 between the two Twin Towers. Level 41 is for visitors and 42 for employees and residents.

There’s a beautiful view. After a couple of minutes to enjoy the stunning view we were lifted to floor 86 to enjoy a even better view.

Summary: It was worth the money and time to enjoy this spectacular building and view. You can see more photos in my SkyDrive photo library.
